Five for Friday

Oh my word. It's Friday. I made it. We made it. It was testing week and I know that all of my fellow teachers feel my pain. The worst part is we didn't even test! We were just on lock down until all classes finished. That meant no planning... no recess... no playing a video that would be too loud... no singing "Let it Go" at the top of our lungs (although I just really felt like letting it go at that moment). Torture.

But we survived and so it's time for the weekend, baby!

Here's my Five for Friday!
You know how in college you met people that you will never forget? Here's two of those kind of people for me. I like to call this our "Fully Loaded" night. Why did I pick this picture for my Five for Friday? Well because the one on the left is getting married this weekend. Rahul (or Baby Ray as I like to call him) was my RA my freshman year and helped me in so many ways. The one in the middle.... that's Walt-Money. On this particular night he made us watch him walk down the State House steps to pretend he was being inaugurated. I miss those nights.

This is how we dress on a normal day, people. Just kidding. We're at Prom. You heard right... a 26 and a 28 year old at a high school prom. When I was offered the chance to chaperone, I knew I had to take it. I love planning parties and I'm glad I got to be a part of my school's first ever PROM. And I'm even more glad that I got to spend this night with this guy. I think I like him.

Is there anything better than getting surprises in the mail? This is what I received from my SLANT partner Mrs. Harris. Check out her blog here! The theme of April's SLANT box was to pick a favorite book, send the book to your partner and add things that go along with the book. She must have known that I needed a new copy of Bad Case of Stripes and she sent so many creative things to go along with that. Love it! If you want to be a part of the next SLANT box for teachers, check it out here:

Does anybody else get a kick out of reading Mother's Day/Father's Day writing? I was crying laughing at some of the stuff my kiddos wrote about their moms. I love that this student knows his mom loves to watch Days of Our Lives. I could have put the same thing for my mom many years ago. Can't wait to send home the real presents today! They are cute!

After today we will have 16 days left of school. We needed to get in the spirit by writing some Summer Cinquains. I have to say, after reading these poems, I am ready for summer!

  1. Bad Case of Stripes is one of my favorite books! I, too, love seeing friends from college. We live all of the place now, so it is so great when we can all get together.
