Five for Friday

Testing. Te s t i n g. T...e...s...t...i...n...g. It's been a week full of CogAT testing. The kids actually love it (thank goodness) but repeating myself 100 times an hour is no fun for this teacher who enjoys singing, dancing, and you know, the whole teaching thing. So saying "fill in the bubble that finishes the puzzle" a million times, is not my idea of a fun school day. I'm still having nightmares dreams about those words.

We have two more days of testing next week, but that hasn't stopped us from doing some learning!

And after all of that testing, guess what today was? OUR HALLOWEEN PARTY! I loooooove Halloween, I really do. I love dressing up and seeing the kids dressed up, but it's just something about the Halloween Party that makes me want to retire early. Is it the candy? The changing personalities? Let's just say I need a nap!

 I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to do Five for Friday!

We started off the week making these cuties. We were reviewing adjectives for our parts of speech test and this creative group needed something to cut and create. They created Frankensteins and Witches Legs, then described them using adjectives. Perfect!

Here's our Red Ribbon Week Door for the school wide competition. I like to be original and Pintrest failed me this year with ideas for these Red Ribbon Doors. One day my student was singing "Turn Down for What" and I thought to myself "I have got to make Red Ribbon Week something fun that will relate to this singing, dancing class that I have this year." And so we became singers. All we needed were some "stunna shades" and there we were. Now if I can only get the new lyrics out of my head... {TURN DOWN THOSE DRUGS!}

How adorable are these mummy treats I made for our school custodians? I found the idea from Farley's blog at Oh' Boy 4th Grade! Too cute!

Here's my costume this year for the kiddos! They loved the book Miss Nelson is Missing, so I knew I just had to be the evil substitute teacher, Miss Viola Swamp. So much fun!

Since I am the evil substitute Miss Viola Swamp today, that means that sweet, perfect, wonderful, seriously the best-ever Miss Potter is missing (I think I covered most of the adjectives on describing myself- ha!). My students had to draw and write about where they think Miss P is. This kid knows me too well. He drew me in my red and black at a sports game. On the back he wrote "She's probably watching some sort of Gamecocks game because she loves them with all her heart." And that's exactly where I'll be tomorrow!

Okay guys. I'm off to pick up some scary movies for Mr. R and I to watch while passing out candy to our trick-or-treaters. Then we're off to Columbia for a day full of tailgating *cross your fingers for nice weather*. Sunday is my best friend's gender reveal party and I just KNOW it is going to be a boy!

  1. Love your bulletin board! I had never heard of Red RIbbon week before I saw it on so many blogs. No schools in my area participate. I'm totally going to have to organize something next year! I'm a new follower, I found you through doodle bugs link up. I love your blog name, too- it totally matches mine! haha.

  2. "Look at the pictures in the top row. How do they go together? Look at the pictures in the bottom row. Fill in the bubble next to the answer picture that fits in the blank box." I have to administer CogAT, too. It's the worst. Teaching? What's that?

    I love that you dressed up as Viola Swamp. Too cute!! I also love that you brainwash your kids into loving your sports team, just like I do - even though you like the wrong team. ;)
