Here's my Five for Friday link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching
Buddy The Elf, what's your favorite color? Yep, our classroom elf on the shelf is BACK! I have really enjoyed coming up with new fun things each day for my kiddos. Today Buddy is playing Connect 4 with Woody from Toy Story at our reading table. So far my students' favorite thing was the selfie he took on our iPad. He even set it as our wallpaper- that crazy elf!
We started our weather unit last week. This week has been all about the water cycle. We started out by making "rain in a cup" using shaving cream and food coloring. This shows the students that when clouds get too heavy, they have to let some water come down and that's precipitation.
We made our water cycle bracelets yesterday. I found a cute print-out for students to take home to show their parents what we learned. Take a look at it here.We also watched the Water Cycle Rap. My kids love any kind of music, so they really got into this!
If you asked me what was the one thing I disliked about teaching- hands down I would say "GRADING PAPERS!" I would much rather spend that time planning hands-on, fun activities for my kiddos. But grading is something that has to be done. And when I find little writings like this, I can't help but to laugh. This is from when I went to NYC before Thanksgiving Break (yes, I just graded it last Sunday). They had to do a "Where could my teacher be?" writing and one student wondered if I was in jail. Oh boy.
Christmas is seriously my most favorite time of the year! My family and I went to McAdenville last year, but I hadn't been since I was a kid. This year the boyfriend and I went and we loved seeing all of the lights. I think we got some ideas on how we'll decorate our future house for the holidays.
I am so excited! This afternoon I'm headed to Charleston for the weekend. We're doing an early Christmas with my boyfriend's family because they will be in Chicago on the actual date. We're going to spend lots of time together and watch a Christmas play on Saturday night. Charleston is one of my favorite places, so I can't wait for this weekend!
I hate grading, too! I'm so much more a planner than a grader! I usually lug a huge stack back and forth to school each day, never really getting anything done! I found you through the linky! Have fun in Charleston!

I love your science weather ideas! I must check these out. This year I am trying to incorporate more music in to my science instruction. We did a photosynthesis song and my kids loved it!

Grading. Ugh. Robs the joy and brings on the exhaustion.
